Flagbook - Week 5 (again) :P

Blaze                       -3 ˝                Revenge

Week 5 brings us a game with two teams going in opposite directions. Blaze has won 2 games in a row after dropping the first two of the season. Their latest victory was a bit of a snoozer as they manually handled the Autobots 33-12. They come to Vengeance Arena to take on a Revenge team that has lost their last two after winning their first two games of the season. They were victimized by a Mayhem haymaker 46-20. Their defense has been picked apart the last couple of games and they have a very tenuous hold on the last playoff spot in B. That sense of desperation may be just enough to squeak by a vet Blaze team that has been around the block, oh, a few thousand times.

Expendables             +3 ˝              Battalion

Expendables find themselves just on the outside of the playoff party after getting jousted by the Knights 39-8.  Their task at attempting to re-enter the playoff fray brings them into direct confrontation with Battalion, winners of 3 straight. Battalion survived a shootout at the Mean Machine Corral 39-32 and is the not-so-proud owner of the 2nd worst defense in all the TBFFA. Blame it on the flag football equivalent of the Run and Shoot (Mario runs while the defense shoots itself in the foot). While the porous defense isnt expected to cost them here it could bode ill for the near future.

Mayhem                       -8 ˝                Fish & Grits

Mayhem  turns its Death Star primary weapon towards F&G as they continue their march towards championship immortality. Mayhem coasted to a painless 46-20 victory over Revenge while F&G seemed to be conducting experiments in offense  versus INIT2GETKILLEDINIT 32-6. Well see if all of that experimentation gets it done against Mayhem since they dont seem to be slowing down one bit.

Techs                            PK                       Revenge

Even though this is Revenges second game of the day it remains to be seen if any of the Techs team can be located after So Hood went all gangsta on them to the tune of 44-0. If Revenge wants to solidify its hold on a playoff spot they need to take advantage of the massive disorientation and disillusionment the Techs may still be suffering from.  Techs need a doctor to bring them back to life.

Fusion                         -1                           What

Fusion picked itself up and dusted itself off last week putting itself on the winning track again by beating up the Desperadoes behind the woodshed 37-13. They take on a very motivated What team that was boa constrictor-ed by So Hood  19-6. What needs some wins in the worst way to get into the playoffs and they have been playing very well even though they have not gotten Ws to show for it. This game could be a trap for Fusion if they are not careful.

Knights                        -6                         Nightmare

This game will definitely be a (k)night to remember as these two teams come in at 3-1 to further legitimize their claim as top tier teams. The Knights maced Expendables  39-8 last week while Nightmare figured out Enigma 25-13. Will the Knights in shining armor be the ones wide awake in 3rd place Monday morning or will Nightmare call it a night by knocking the Knights off their thrones? Tune in tomorrow night to know for sure!

INIT2WINIT                   +1                      Autobots

This weeks Toilet Bowl features two teams with defenses that were big stars in the movies. The movie was 300. And combined , both teams are approaching that mark. Whether or not those defenses are even tested this week will be a question as well since both offenses rank in the sub-sub basement this season. The winner of this game will save their season for one more week.

Desperadoes                +9 ˝                  Mean Machine

Two teams on the outside of the playoff picture look to get the second half of the season started off right. Familiarity breeds contempt so the question is who is more familiar with who, Trevor with the Despoes defense or the Desperadoes with Trevor? If the Despoes can get 7 on the field this will be interesting.

Enigma                      +22                       So Hood

Enigma is the latest team to lay itself across the railroad tracks and attempt to stop the runaway train that is So Hood.  Enigma started off hot and has since cooled off considerably, getting sideswiped by Nightmare 25-13. So Hood, in their SECOND game last week, evaporated the Techs 44-0. Can Wolfe work his mental chess magic against the Monsters of the Hood-way or will So Hood pull the hoodie over Enigma and give them a mental wedgie?
