Unofficial B MVP Stan-Man (Heisman) Award Race

So far we have a five way (unofficial) tie for that one player in B who can B all he can B in B division.

With one vote each the field consists of:

Pete  Polo Field Legends  1
Bryan Guttierez Battalion 1
Mike Rucker Mud Dawgz 1
Matty Bonar Polo Field Legends  1
Hutch Mud Dawgz 1
Cody DeHaan Battalion 1

These again are unofficial stats as determined by an independent, third party consulting group and takes into consideration coaches and reporter's polls, player interviews, online voting (except for the immediate Washington DC area and anyone claiming to be a Redskins fan), children sending in their Wheaties boxtops scrawled with their favorite player's names and number of car horns honking on Alexander St. entry ramp to I-4 in Plant City as player names were waved by devoted fans.

OK guys....I'm lazy. Find me the post where Robbie won an MVP and I'll update the totals. I can only include what's been posted. I don't like doing retro posts either; winners should be posted at the same time scores are posted.

For DJ Sweeney, is this the first award he's won? I don't see him mentioned in a previous post. If he's won before then copy and paste the post so I can see it and I'll update accordingly.

Remember, by the way, that my compilation is considered unofficial unless Football Powers That BE care to christen my list as official. These are for entertainment purposes only.

I just don't feel like poring through old posts trying to find these awards.

I never implied that teams were trying to sneak in extra nominations. I trust the captains of each of the teams have enough integrity to give honest assessments on who their best player of the game was.

As for taking nominations for losing teams I don't think it's fair to only have winning teams posting for it. It's possible for an MVP to come from a losing team. If he's benchpressing his team every week he should be recognized.

Look at Barry Sanders.

I'll add on these extra nominations at some point. I would just appreciate it if the MVPs could be posted along with the scores to make it easier for me.

Again, I'm just doing this for fun; not even sure if what I'm doing is accurate for the "official" awards.

So you're telling me that Scott has two awards and you have three? You and Scott have carried the whole team thus far?

That is what I thought as well Rob.  Also, I think that teams should vote for their opponents MVP.  This would make the MVP voting more objective!!!

That makes sense. I say only other teams should vote for MVP and not same team. Good idea Hutch.

I think that they shoud only count in a win. Next season when or if we switch to the new site we can start going stats.

If any of you guys know some your player stats for this season you need to input all your players on the roster post your stats on here and i'll put them in the stats sheet.

Guys, I originally mentioned the captains voting for the opponent MVP at the meeting and was initially told that we were going to do it that way. Somehow, when the idea got posted, it ended up being each captain voting for his own team. I asked Larry for clarification but was told that captains would be voting for their own teams. I agree that it would be more objective if captains voted for the opponents. Submissions could be IM'd to me and I would maintain a log which would be kept secret till the end of the season. This way captains wouldn't be influenced if some player got a lot of votes early on (ex: Matty's got three votes so I'm not gonna vote for him even though he just had an awesome game against us). We should implement this idea for next season.

OK....here is the updated list as it now stands based on the 8 million posts we're getting.

Doug Adams Battalion 2
Matty Bonar Polo Field Legends 2
Hutch Mud Dawgz 2
Brandon Reapers 2
Scott Rogers Polo Field Legends 2

Pete Polo Field Legends 1
Bryan Guttierez Battalion 1
Mike Rucker Mud Dawgz 1
Cody DeHaan Battalion 1
Mike Kruger Kobraz 1
Joey Reapers 1
Clay Reapers 1
Marcel MudDawgz 1
Brian Diltz Reapers 1
Reggie Jackson MudDawgz 1
Andy Reapers 1
Bruce Fury 1
Trevor Thornton Battalion 1
Ray Wilson Night Hawks 1
Robbie Reapers 1
DJ Sweeney Polo Field Legends 1

Now here's what we can do. Tell me what you guys think:

Starting this week we can start voting for the OPPONENTS MVP. You guys can report it to the ref AND IM me. IF in the event an MVP doesn't get voted before the scheduled game the following week then the captain who needs the MVP voted on would be allowed to pick who HE thought was the MVP.

EX: MudDawgz beat Battalion. I get so pissed I don't talk to anyone for a week and don't report the MVP for the MudDawgz. MudDawgz captain gets to pick the MVP for his own team for the Battalion game when he faces off against his next opponent. We each have up to a week to report.

Sound good? Anyone see a problem anywhere? I will keep the results secret and report them to Larry by the end of the regular season.

Also, I would recommend that captains NOT wait to report MVPs especially if you don't know the name of the player you plan to report.

It's at the captain's discretion to send over MVP picks. Some teams have hardly reported at all. At any rate only picks reported within a week of the succeeding game would be accepted. I only made exceptions earlier in the season when teams were reporting their own MVPs. Voting for MVP is already closed and I'm waiting till after the playoffs to post the results I have (B-League only)

I knew someone was going to say something about that. Cody won 4 MVPs. Of those 4, three of them came AFTER we had changed the rules so that opposing team captains voted for the other team's MVP. I do know that not all teams reported all weeks but that would be the fault of the individual captains.

We're all big boys here. While an MVP would be nice it's not worth cheating and ruining a reputation over. Heck, you'd know that I was cheating if it was ME who had won it!!!!

But those in the know understand that I would not unveil my superhuman powers on the field and take away absolutely ALL hope of any team winning. :)
