This will be a good test for the "too big for their britches(?)" Villians to see if they have what it takes to mention themselves in the same breath as Vets/Fusion. They struggled a little bit to put away last season's C-Division runnerups Blaze. Sources are wondering if that was the reason why a late week name change application was submitted changing their team name to Vilians. FNG is also a much improved team coming off a preseason loss to the defending champions last week. We think Villians will bait the hook and not let this one get away.
9am - ShoNuff(+35) vs. Fusion - #1
ShoNuff did not sho nuff of anything against What! as they were run off the field, probably to a chorus of boos from the crowd. They will need to regroup against a Fusion team that took a close game at half time and pulled away for a decisive win in their preseason tuneup. ShoNuf needs to recapture some of that magic they had a couple seasons ago if they want to breathe the same air as Fusion in this game.
10am- Brigade (+14) vs. Mayhem - #1
Brigade pulls themselves out of the offseason scrap heap to give it another go at an A-Championship. They need to get a gameplan together versus the champs. Vet-hem put the kib-bash on FNG in their preseason win and seem to be all set to defend their crown.
8am - Mean Machine (+6) vs. Expendables- Stadium
The war of words between MM and Battalion resulted in a good game. Mean Machine played well in the loss. They take on an Expendables team that CLAIMS to be improved but so far this is only team propoganda. Expendables have the chance to make us believe the hype.
9am - What! (-21) vs. SlowPokes - Stadium
What! sNuffed Nuff by three scores and seems ready to start the season versus the SlowPokes Agent 86s. SlowPokes preseason results were declared top secret so no one really knows how they did. If they're on top of their game they will be a handful but What! should be able to salt this away.
10am - Desperados (-3) vs. Blaze - Stadium
Blaze put up a good fight versus Villians and bring their trademark defense versus last season's Cinderella darlings, Desperadoes. Despoes get the benefit of Trevor at QB for an entire season and will show that last season;s trip to the B-Championship was no fluke.
11am - Punishers (+3) vs. Battalion - Stadium
Punishers bring a reported porous D against a Battalion team that was able to win its preseason game while trying to sort out the tangled mess of its offense. Defense will have to buckle down as well as they tried several experiements versus a frisky Mean Machine team. The Book believes the Punishers will receive a slight slap on the wrist in this one. :)
11am - NightMare (+8) vs. Techs - #1
nightmare came up short versus Techs in their preseason game and get another crack at them to start the season. Techs roll into this game with confidence that they have the tech-nical tech-nique to vanquish the 'Mares for a second straight week.
12pm - NightMare (+4) vs. Wolf Pack - #1
Nightmare has a nightmare schedule to start off the season. After kicking off against a team that had their number in the preseason they must re-gather their troops for Wolf Pack. Will Nightmare Pack it in or will the Wolves wish the 'Mares nighty-night?
