Fusion continues its comeback season with Fish and Grits on the menu. Fusion barely sneaked past Sho Nuff while the Fish peeps fell to the Villians. Ya gotta wonder if Fusion can be had in this one. Would it be that much of an upset if Grits won? The book says no!
Sho Nuff (+29) vs. Mayhem
Sho Nuff came out swinging in game one and nearly de-Fused Fusion. Now they get to see exactly where they stand against the cream of the A crop. Mayhem plays host after their most recent mercy-killing of a reconstituted Brigade team. The Nuffs hope to Sho that week one was the real deal and that they mean business. Hopefully Mayhem can stay awake long enough to get the message.
Villians (-38) Vs. Brigade
Villians continue to state their case that they belong with the big boys by visiting Brigade down at the Big Noodle. Brigade got about a platoon;s worth of slapping at the oversized hands of Mayhem. It could just be growing pains and trying to reformulate their game plan or they could actually be that bad. Another huge loss to Villians would alert the league that Brigade's lack of O and D is not just a test...it;s a real emergency.
B Division
What! (+25) Vs. Mean Machine
It was about as top secret as the motherships from Independence Day appearing over major cities of the Earth. Somehow only Gio (played by Jeff Goldblum) knew the code. When the time was right and his pieces were in position--CHECKMATE! And Expendables became the first team to witness the firepower of a fully armed and operational Mean Machine, getting vaporized in a 24-0 bulldozing. Next up for the behemoth known affectionately as M & M is a What! team that should probably be renamed WTF?!?!?! after getting punked by the team of Yodas known as Slowpokes. Can they figure out MMs Mighty Men in Motion or will there be more obscenities phrased in the form of a question for WHAT!
Wolfpac (+2) Vs. Blaze
Wolfpac may have finally awakened from their Nightmare. In that bad dream they got Freddy Krueger-ed 28-20 and will face a Blaze team which seemed to mis-place its offense last week, dropping a 12-6 defensive slugfest versus the Desperadoes. Blaze's defense was the Great Wall of China picking off 4 passes versus Despoes but its zer-offense did squat. Can Blaze outfox the Wolfpac or will the Pack have a dream...a dream where they will be judged not by the content of their offense but by their offense of the opposing team's defense?
Mean Machine (-16) Vs. Punishers
For those of you who plan to miss the M&Ms matinee performance you can get your popcorn ready for the nightcap against a Punishers team which put Battalion in time-out 6-0. In spite of that victory the Book is not convinced that Big Pun has the monkey wrench required to slow down the Machine. Mean Machine can;t be stopped; all of their internal team memos say so. Must be true. Mean Machine shocks the world and is 3-0 at the end of the day???
Nightmare (-28) Vs. Expendables
Nightmare looks to have sweet dreams against X-pendables who got smacked up, flipped up, and rubbed down (oh noo! They need a body bag) by big Meanies. Nightmare split a doubleheader versus Techs and Wolfpac. The Explodables will probably feel like a team of aging former action stars by the time the mushroom cloud dissipates in this one...
Techs (+2) Vs. Desperados
Techs probably wish they could face Nightmare every game of the season but they will have to venture out of their comfort zone to take on the B-League runnerups. Despoes threw 'bows all day against Blaze and even though they turned the ball over more than Steve Urkel (without glasses) versus Kobe Bryant they still managed to extinguish Blaze. They will need a couple more bullets in their six-shooters to take on a surging Techs.
Battalion (+5) Vs. Slowpokes
Battalin hopes to find its missing "o" versus a team which seems to have found a "d". Battali"o"n committed Death by Stupidity in surrendering 60 yards in personal foul penalties in aiding and abetting an impotent Punishers team to a 6-0 strangulation. Does this team have any hopes of getting its groove back versus a SlowPokes team which got all up in What!s face and said "And WHAT!" pimp-slapping them for a 19-18 victory? The Book hopes Battalion doesn;t Batt-an-eye at the challenge.
