The Final Weekend

Here we are...into the final stretch and we have an interesting race. Let's see how this could wrap up.

Desperadoes: They would have a possiblility of losing this week versus the Expendables if the game was going to be played on December 21st this year. Either that or the Expendables could use an "Armageddon" style asteroid strike which would wipe out the entire Despoes team by opening kickoff. SInce that doesn;t seem likely we should probably award Desperadoes the number 1 seed in B.

And by the way, even if Despoes DID lose the final score would have to be something like 212-0 in order for Despoes to lose their grip on first place. We;d all lose our grip on reality first if that happened.

Techs: Are still in the running...technically...for first place. They  first have to beat Blaze in order to solidify their #2 rank. A loss could knock them down to 4th.

Nightmare: They can move up to the 2 spot if Techs lose and they win. They should get the winning part down as they face a Punishers team that has scored fewer points this season than some teams have scored in one game.

Battalion: Can move up to number 2 if Techs and Nightmare both lose but could slide to 5th. May not matter depending on the playoff format being used but if 4 plays 5 then it doesn;t matter.

Wolf Pack: Could move up to 4 if they beat Battalion. If they can detonate a thermonuclear device in Battalion's end zone they could climb as high as number 2.

The above teams have clinched.

And now for the three fighting to get in:

What: They sit at #6 right now but could lose out if Blaze or Mean Machine wins. Their season is over so they must be spectators this week. That is very possible as Blaze has Techs and MM has the Poke-meisters who will test MM's defense with their Advanced Calculus Offense. Study hard!

Blaze: Tough game versus Techs but they have the inside track if they win. They have a +5 advantage over MM but that is not a safe margin considering that Blaze is build more as a defensive squad. Tony and Co. will have a tough time moving the ball versus Techs.

Mean Machine: A hot start of 3-0 has been neutralized by the frozen tundra of a 0-4 streak. They can right the ship and atone for a myriad of sins if they can beat the Slowpokes. The Pokes have the second worst defense in the league and should give MM plenty of opportunities to make up the 5 point deficit they have versus Blaze in the tiebreakers.

The prediction:

Both games are too close to call but the Book believes Mean Machine gets in with a win while Blaze loses a squeaker versus Techs.

If Despo's lost and we beat Blaze, wouldn't that make us 1 seed since we beat them head to head?  Most likely doesn't matter, but I can't see how tie breaker would go to points before head to head.

I sit corrected and this was all done without taking head to head into consideration. If you hung that loss on Despoes then you are much closer to #1 than I thought.
